As every man will tell you there is really only one reason they read Playboy Magazine- “The Cartoons!”
What better way to view those cartoons than with martini in hand at the ToonSeum.

Break out your smoking jacket and bunny ears! On Thursday April 19th at 7pm, the night before Pittsburgh Comic Con, The ToonSeum will present an evening with Playboy legend Doug Sneyd in a one night only show of masterpieces and rejected ideas!
Since 1964 Doug Sneyd has produced hundreds of cartoons for Playboy Magazine. Join us as we celebrate the remarkable career of this true cartooning master whose whimsical and just a bit naughty works have captivated and titillated audiences for four decades.
The evening will begin with an interview with Doug Sneyd and chance to view his beautiful paintings and sketches, followed by lounge music and martinis from the world's greatest vodka Boyd and Blair!
Guests will have a chance to purchase one of a kind works from Doug and all attendees will receive a special signed limited edition print valued at $50.

There will be prize drawings throughout the evening and one lucky lady will win a chance to be immortalized in a sketch by Doug.

All proceeds benefit the ToonSeum, Pittsburgh's Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art.

Tickets are $50 per person (members are $40) and the event is strictly limited to no more than 75 guests.

Plastic Man y The Spirit, de Jack Cole

Esta portada es el número 23 de Police Comics  de la editorial Quality Comics, signada por Cole pero trabajada tambien por Paul Gustavson y es un homenaje a The Spirit, personaje que Jack Cole tuvo oportunidad de trabajar junto a su creador, Will Eisner.

Jack Cole, nació en New Castle, Pennsylvania el 14 de dicembre de 1914, aprendió dibujo a través de un curso por correspondencia y por su propia iniciativa en libros, su talento permitió que llegara a colaborar con Will Eisner en The Spirit. Dibujó también a Daredevil, The Spirit y Mr. Midnight (que es una versión humorística del personaje de Eisner),en 1940 comienza a trabajar en Quality Comics donde al año siguiente empieza a publicar al que sería el personaje que lo encumbraría entre los mejores autores del comic de la Golden Age: Plastic Man.


También se destaca su novela negra Murder, Morphine and Me.
Luego de doce años con el personaje, Cole pasaría a trabajar en Playboy triunfando igualmente con su humor y buen dibujo. A los 43 años Cole deja una nota a nombre de Hugh Heffner director de Playboy otra  para su mujer, va  a una tienda de deportes compra un arma calibre 22, llama a un vecino para avisarle de sus intenciones (eran pasada las 2 de la tarde), a las 6 pm. tres niños dan con el aun vivo  pero con un a bala en la cabeza, las razones nunca fueron reveladas en público.
