Candidatos a los Annie Awards desdeñan a Beowulf

Los premios Annie otorgados por la industria de la animación hace un corrección importante, no incluyen a la película motion capture, Beowulf de Robert Zemeckis para la categoría de mejor película animada, a lo sumo aparece tímidamente dentro de los premios individuales en la categoría de diseño de producción para Doug Chiang. La corrección es oportuna en cuanto está película fue mencionada dentro de las postulantes para el alicaído premio "Oscar".

Tratándose de animadores es lógico pensar que el rotoscopiado es visto como un híbrido anti-animación o a lo sumo se considera a Beowulf como película hecha con la tecnica 3D o una película de FX. los Animadores pues han puesto las cosas en su lugar.

La favorecida ampliamente en las nominaciones es la película animada de Pixar Animation Studios, "Ratatouille" con 13 menciones entre ellas la principal de Best Animated Feature, por supuesto el director y animador Brad Bird esta nominado como mejor Director, nominada también en la categorías guión,animación de personajes, efectos de animación (dos nominaciones), diseño de producción, storyboard, diseño de personaje, animación, música y voces (tres nominaciones). Sony Pictures Animation’s con “Surf’s Up” le sigue con 10 nominaciones para los premios dentro de efectos animados, producción, animación de personajes(dos nominaciones), diseño de personajes, y dirección.
Completando la categoría Best Animated Feature esta DreamWorks Animation's con su estrenada recientemente "Bee Movie", Sony Pictures Classics'con la película 2D "Persépolis", y la Twentieth Century Fox con "The Simpsons Movie".

Para la televisión, "El Tigre" de Nickelodeon's lidera el grupo con cuatro nominaciones a la mejor producción infantil animada ,creada por mexicanos, también estan “Creative Comforts America” de Aardman Animations, “Jane and the Dragon” de Weta Productions Limited & Nelvana Limited, “Kim Possible” de Walt Disney Television Animation, y “Robot Chicken Star Wars” de ShadowMachine.
